FAB FRIDAYS is coming, as always on the second Friday of the month along Fulton Street in Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. Check out the events and offers listed below happening throughout the day and into the night. When Ludlow Beckett moved to the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn 18 years ago, he saw the need to fill a void in the home furnishings, accessories and gifts market. Says Ludlow, “I believed I could bring a modern twist to stuff I loved.”
Yu opened its doors 11 years ago when “there weren’t that many other shops selling what I’m selling.”
Ludlow appreciates the diversity and architecture of the neighborhood. He believes that Fulton Street was always struggling to find its identity, but now it is coming into its own. “FAB has certainly helped and made it easier for merchants. For instance, prior to the BID, a few of us merchants were out there hanging holiday lights along Fulton Street and decorating a tree in Cuyler Park. Now we’ve got a better arrangement.”

So far, Ludlow’s FAB Fridays offerings have included discounts and free champagne (and on March 8, 2011: a special "Spring Cocktail"!). He believes that FAB Fridays is a great vehicle to grow a customer base, let people know there are many options on Fulton Street, and give merchants an idea of what is in the area, so that they, in turn, can educate the public.
