Summer's just around the bend (fingers crossed), and it feels that much closer with the announcement of the 2018 FAB Fulton outdoor event programming, starting May 5th! All events and activities are FREE, and will take place in various public areas on and near Fulton Street (aka FAB Fulton) in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, some of which are NEW locations this year, due to exciting plaza reconstruction projects.The complete schedule of events is below; mark your calendars now, and plan on FAB fun, all season long!

A Day of Art and Discovery

Art is all around us in Brooklyn; there is a rich history of performing and visual arts, especially in Fort Greene. Spend a spring day strolling the Brooklyn Cultural District and have fun discovering art at every turn: live window painting, free guided walking tours, installations and exhibits, and some of the most interesting and iconic public and street art in the city!  Chart your course using the illustrated guide map (also available soon at fabfulton.org), and plan to visit some of the FAB shops and stops in the area, as well as various cultural institutions and arts centers.

  

BROOKLYN CULTURAL DISTRICT TOURS

Meet at BAM marquee sign at Flatbush + Lafayette, Fort Greene

Join these free 2-hour guided walking tours co-presented by FAB Alliance and American Opera Projects (AOP), to experience the old, the new, and what's to come! Over the course of 120 minutes, you'll stroll through the gorgeous brownstone-dotted streets of Fort Greene, past spontaneous and commissioned street art, to see where more than a dozen spaces and locations have already made the Brooklyn Cultural District a major arts destination for performances of every type, large and small. Adding to the Brooklyn cultural experience, "pop-up" performances by artists from Fort Greene's American Opera Projects, accompany the tour. (Check our website, fabfulton.org, to register for each tour; space is limited to 50 participants per tour.)

FAB FRIDAY KIDS' CONCERTS

This morning hour series is pure magic in the park: musical, interactive, educational, and loads of fun! Old favorites and new friends will entertain the tots (ages 12 mos. - 5 yrs.) with stories, role-play and games that even parents and caregivers will enjoy. Mark your calendars and don’t miss these lively concerts!

Mellow out (or get up and dance) at our LIVE concerts, featuring some of the best jazz artists in our area, fan favorites from the renowned Fulton Street venue, Jazz966. Our summer evening sets have a new location this season (still outdoors), with more space to jam to the good music! (In case of rain, concerts will be relocated, same day, indoors to Jazz966 at 966 Fulton Street.)

Plan your Fridays in Fort Greene now: wind down your week at these afternoon outdoor jam sessions with Brooklyn Music School! World-class musicians and faculty from the nearby powerhouse will heat up happy hour with live sounds featuring standards and original tunes. This year, we have two locations for great music: the area known as 7-Corners (Fulton at S. Oxford) and Fowler Square (Fulton at Lafayette). You’ll want to pull up a seat (or bring your own) and stay awhile!

Fans of the ‘80s and ‘90s rejoice: FAB Flicks is back with cinematic favorites presented al fresco under the stars in a new location: our own Brooklyn “backlot!” You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll recite classic lines alongside neighbors and friends as you revisit a block of FAB films, especially curated for this summer series by BAMcinématek. (Arrive early for music, fun giveaways and special treats!)

A grandfather (Peter Falk) reads a book to his ill grandson (Fred Savage). He assures a romance-weary boy that the book has much more to deliver than a simpering love story, including but not limited to fencing, fighting, torture, death, true love, giants, and pirates.
